SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS

These are interventions to protect and support the means of living and survival by the local community.
Goal: Sustained and resilient Community livelihoods for a dignified living.
Strategic Objectives;

  • To increase the additional number of Households accessing Caritas supported water sources for domestic and farm production.
  • To improve animal welfare and productivity of livestock.
  • To enhance, diversify and sustain the livelihoods of communities by employing a wealth creation rather than poverty alleviation approach.
  • To Harness local resources in ensuring that communities enjoy sustainable livelihoods.
  • To Respond to disasters.
  • To invest in empowering communities to enhance preparedness,strengthen response and mitigation of disasters.

The projects under this program include:

1.  Greening with Jobs: Environmental Preservation and Restoration in rural Kenya (GREENPARK)

Project Overall Objective

“Green" economic growth and thus employment and income are improved in rural communities in Makueni and Kitui through the application of sustainable consumption and production patterns.

Target Area and Beneficiaries

Covers Kitui and Makueni Counties.

2.  Mtunze Punda Daima Project

Project Overall Objective

By 2021, sustainable change in welfare of 94,800 working donkeys in Kitui

Target Area and Beneficiaries

Covers Mwingi North, Mwingi Central, Mwingi West and Kitui South Sub Counties.

Targets 9,936 Donkey and women 860 People

3.  Integrated Risk Reduction Project (IRRP)
