Water Projects

The main objective of these projects is to ensure the availability of clean and adequate water to benefitting communities for domestic, agricultural and livestock use. Caritas Kitui through the various water projects helps in the rehabilitation of water structures, provision of water trucking and storage facilities to targeted schools and communities, provision of pumping fuel for water pumping, provision of water treatment materials, training on management and operations etc.
The projects staffs in these projects work hand in hand with other projects’ staff whose projects have an element of water in them through the provision of technical input especially in the excavation of earthdams, drilling of boreholes, provison of water trucking and storage facilities.
The current water project is partnership water project which is funded by Archdiocese of St. Paul Minneapolis.The target areas are Kyuso ,Kimangao,Kamuwongo,Nguni,Nuu,Mwingi and Nguutani Parishes.The objectives of this project is to provide sustainable access to safe drinking water to 9,000 school children in 30 schools and Improve adoption of proper hygiene and sanitation practices for better health.
Project Activities include,installation of 60 roof water harvesting systems (Tanks each 10,000 lts capacity) in 30 schools,Hygiene education for school going children in 30 schools ,hygiene/sanitation sensitization on meetings for parents and capacity building for maintenance of water supply systems in schools.
